Our railways now and in the future
Nowadays
Estonian railways (Eastern Europe has1520 mm -gauge railway) at full length 1336,4 km. Double track routes 104,9 km, electric routes131,6 km, routes with automatical closing 502,8 km . The density of railways is 23 km per 1000 kmē
Future
Baltic states are planning to build new railway- RAIL BALTICA. This will be speedway from Tallinn to Warszawa (through Latvia and Lithuania)- and in future it can be part from Berlin- Helsinki railway. Width of gauges will be 1435mm like in Europe and the train can drive about 180 km /h Germany is ready to support this project. Lithuania has planned europe-standard railway for 2009.
